I have been working on a model in XSI Softimage. This model is based on a concept art by Nerd Corps Entertainment Inc. It is based on a blaster from the popular show "Slug Terra". This blaster is called, the Growler.
And here is the concept:
I decided to do a game study on the MMO "Lineage 2". I played this game a lot back in the day, and really enjoyed it. What I wanted to do was get a reference picture from the game, study it, and try to recreate something similar myself.
So here is the work that I did, compared to the reference image in the game. The textures have a diffuse, and a normal map. I hand painted 2 textures, one for the floor, and one for the rail and the columns. The textures are 1k tilable.
As well, here is the progression of layers from the diffuse texture I hand painted for the floor.
Here is my render of the "Windy" scene I worked on. The sequence is based on a concept art by Fathom Interactive's "Sky Pirates of Neo Terra". I modeled, textured and lit everything myself. I only used the concept for a rough guide to the final look (concept is below the video). The grass is made with paint effects and turbulence. Everything was done in Maya and Photoshop. The only thing from After Effects is the foggy effect, which is a ramp.
This is a wireframe of the Windmill. It has tris because my aim was to make it low poly to render it inside a game engine. The total number if tris is 598.
Here are some diffuse textures that I used for my most recent project. The clouds were separate so that they could be animated.
This is a WIP Im making now, on a scene based on a concept art by Fathom Interactive, this is a scene in Neo Eden, on the Windy Hills. I painted all the elements myself, modeled it in Maya and rendered with Mental Ray. Top image is my work, bottom image is the concept. I still need to add the grass, and I will also animate it to bring it to life.
I went back into 3D today and made some cartoony Crystals in the Style of Fathom Interactives "Sky Pirates of Neo Terra", I am hoping to work in that company soon. The textures are 256x256, and it is modeled with low polys to easily be adapted to mobile devices.
This is where I will be posting my modeling and texturing exercises, as well as any general CG related things I do.
